Man Utd hope as chief hints ‘something is brewing’ over Sancho

Manchester United look to have made a breakthrough over a deal for Jadon Sancho after the latest admission from Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.

United have been strongly tipped to sign Sancho, who has scored 17 goals and providing 14 assists this season.

Dortmund though want to keep Sancho for at least another season but are taking a tough stance on his future. What’s more, they’re said to have placed a £115million price tag on the attacker’s head.

Reports have emerged that United could look to restructure the deal.

Zorc spoke confidently in April about how the England international would remain at the Westfalenstadion.

“There is no new status,” Zorc told Sport1. “Currently no club will risk anything by making a big-money move – not even in England.

“I can’t and don’t want to go too far out of the window with forecasts because the situation is changing daily.

“We will see what happens. We have a long-term contract with Jadon Sancho. This will not change now. We are totally relaxed about it.”

Zorc, however, now admits he is “concerned” Sancho could be lured away. As per the Daily Express, Zorc believes something is now ‘brewing behind the scenes’.

“It is clear that we are concerned,” a worried Zorc said on Friday night. “But I don’t want to talk about that now.”

Any move, however, for Sancho will still likely force United to dig deep.

UEFA has recommended the transfer window be extended to October 5 and Zorc insists that makes perfect sense. That’s despite it leaving them longer exposed to the prospect of losing Sancho.

“It makes sense to extend the transfer window,” Zorc added. “I think it’s a good decision.

“It’s difficult to make predictions about how everything will go. Every club has suffered losses, so it will not be a big year.”

Sancho move questioned by pundit

With Dortmund looking set to stand firm on their Sancho valuation, Andy Townsends claims the deal would be a big risk for United.

“United in their DNA have always had exciting wide players, pacy players in those areas. Jadon Sancho is certainly all of that,” he told Premier League productions.

“It will be very interesting to see whether someone is prepared to pay the sort of money, but it’s a staggering amount.

“Especially when he’s not even played 100 games in his career.

“His return of 36 goals is decent from those wide areas but £130m or £140m is an incredible sum of money to pay.”
