Manchester United and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Belgian starlet Jean-Pierre Longonda, according to reports.
According to Foot Mercato, the Premier League rivals have been watching the 17-year-old Lille midfielder – who has been likened to former Arsenal man Abou Diaby – with a view to snapping him up before he signs his first professional deal with the Ligue 1 side.
The report claims that the youngster, who has recorded three goals and three assists in six games for Belgium’s Under-17 side since making his debut this year, has an offer on the table from an unnamed Serie A side, but his future could still be in England.
Chelsea are also interested in the defensive midfielder, while German giants Schalke have been linked as well.
Longonda’s youth contract is entering its final year, and while he is tempted to agree terms over a professional deal to keep him at Lille, he is also set to give thought to the offers he has received from abroad – with the anonymous Italian option proving particularly intriguing for the teenager.
