Man Utd make left field enquiry about €50m keeper earmarked by Chelsea

Manchester United have made enquiries about AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, claims a paper in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport have claimed on Monday that United and Real Madrid have shown an interest in the 21-year-old.

Just when that interest was registered is unclear in the article, but the future of the highly-rated goalkeeper is coming to a crossroads.

Donnarumma’s lucrative deal expires in 2021 and, per the source, “talks with his agent Mino Raiola are planned in the coming days”.

The highly-rated goalkeeper is believed to be on around €6million a year until June 2021, according to Football Italia and Milan must decide whether they are going to offer him similar money to extend his stay.

The Italy international has kept 10 clean sheets in 24 Serie A games this season and it’s uncertain whether the youngster will decide to continue his career in Milan or take a new challenge.

Bar the reported interest from United and Madrid there have been “no concrete offers” for the player who has graduated through the ranks with Milan.

Donnarumma earmarked by Chelsea

Although Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the player in April. Milan News reported that the Blues were ready with a €50million offer and willing to offer Donnarumma a contract worth £7million a year.

The reported interest from Manchester United could well be historic and before David de Gea signed a new contract extension last September.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems set for goalkeepers with De Gea being supported by his capable understudy Sergio Romero.

United have been tracking Henderson’s progress on loan at Sheffield United, and despite the player has yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club, he is rated very highly.

“Dean has made some great choices over the years and has developed fantastically,” said Solskjaer. “We’re looking at that in terms of where he’s going to be next season, but as yet that has not been decided.

“This season has proved a great experience for him, he’s done himself some favours with his performances, and proved he will be England’s No.1 and Man United’s No.1 at some point.”
