Manchester United have placed a new offer for Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar, according to the latest reports.
Jose Mourinho is understood to be eager to bolster his rearguard ahead of the new season, with a move for Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld also mentioned.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Red Devils have offered £57m for Skriniar in an attempt to lure Inter into a summer sale.
However, the report states that even £57m likely will not be enough to land the centre-half, with the Nerazzurri holding out for £70m.
Skriniar arrived at San Siro last summer in a £20m move from Sampdoria, and quickly established himself as one of the best central defenders in Serie A.
The 23-year-old was recently asked about speculation linking him with a move to England, but the player insisted he is happy with Inter.
“Manchester United? I heard from them and it made me proud,” the Slovakia international revealed.
“But I’m even happier that Inter decided to reject it and that they believe so much in me.”
Barcelona and Manchester City have also recently been linked with a move for the Slovakia international, while Liverpool were also mentioned as possible suitors.
