Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has asked manager Jose Mourinho for a transfer before the month ends, a report claims.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, the Argentina international has his heart set on a move to Fenerbahce before September 1, when the window shuts in Turkey.

The source claims that Rojo told Mourinho to ‘let him leave’ the club having fallen out of favour at Old Trafford over the last 12 months.

However, the United boss is apparently reluctant to let 28-year-old leave this summer despite the player assuming he doesn’t figure in his plans for the season.

Fenerbahce are reportedly willing to compromise by offering Rojo a temporary exit – a 12-month loan deal with guaranteed first-team football.

Rojo recently revealed he approached Mourinho last season after making just 12 appearances on the back of 41 the previous campaign.

“I cannot blame him, but at the end of the season, with fear, I went to talk to him (Mourinho) and I tried to ask him what was going on.” Rojo told Argentine outlet Ole via Sport Witness in June.

“He told me there were several in situations similar to mine. And he was going to put the one in who was better.”
