Manchester United aim to pinch free-transfer signing from Mourinho’s grasp

Thomas Meunier TEAMtalk

Manchester United and Chelsea have joined the race to sign PSG right-back Thomas Meunier, according to a report in France.

L’Equipe report that the two Premier League big guns have joined Tottenham in pursuit of Meunier, who will be a free agent in June.

The 28-year-old Belgium international is out of contract in the French capital and Le Parisien report that Juventus are also keen on the full-back, who will call time on four years in Paris next month.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ad admirer of Meunier and his free-transfer status is attractive to the Norwegian. However, just how determined he will be to get the player is open to debate after he spent £45m on Aaron Wan-Bissaka a year ago.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho looks to be more in need of a right-back and he will be desperate to get one over on his former club.

Reports last month indicated that the 28-year-old had been “won over” by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, making Tottenham a likely destination.

Meunier has made 128 appearances for the club and won three league titles and the Coupe de France.

Meanwhile, Tottenham strike target Vedat Muriqi believes Jose Mourinho is the manager to take him to the next level, according to reports.

Muriqi has been linked with a move to Spurs after a prolific season in Turkey with Fenerbahce, and has made no secret of his desire to come to the Premier League.
