Man Utd miss out on £30m defensive target as Barcelona agree terms
Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, according to reports in Spain.
Lenglet has been suggested as a Manchester United target since featuring against them in the Champions League last season, but the Old Trafford club have suffered a setback in their efforts to bring him to England.
Sport reports that Lenglet has accepted Barcelona’s terms of a five-year contract, ahead of a potential move to the club.
Sevilla are demanding the full €35m release clause for the centre-back, a fee that is yet to be agreed with Barcelona.
Lenglet, 23, has spent a year-and-a-half in Seville after joining from Nancy in his native France. He has been a regular ever since his arrival, making 73 appearances in all competitions.
The Frenchman is regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in the world, meaning Man United may come to rue missing out on him to the La Liga giants.
