Moises Caicedo TEAMtalk

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to several reports.

Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting that Caicedo had become the latest target for United as they look to build for the future.

The midfielder is only 19-years-old but is already a full Ecuador international.

It has been claimed that Ed Woodward had already opened talks over a potential deal for the Independiente del Valle starlet – who has admitted that United are his favourite club.

The Manchester Evening News backed up those rumours, explaining how a deal could go through in the New Year.

The MEN reports that United want to sign Caicedo in January. If he obtains a work permit, he will be able to join them in 2021.

Now Fabrizio Romano has said that the Red Devils “are in direct contact” with Caicedo’s agent and that an “agreement on personal terms [5 years] won’t be a problem”.

Meanwhile, a newspaper in Ecuador, Diario Extra, reports that Caicedo “leaves for England” ahead of his transfer to Man Utd. The article dated December 22 also claimed he will sign “in the next few hours”.

And El Diario Expreso (via Sport Witness) has declared that “Caicedo will play for Manchester United”.

The report suggests that United put more money down in order to beat RB Leipzig and AC Milan to the midfielder.

The midfielder is known for his high-energy performances and aggressive pressing. The youngster can playing as a defensive midfielder or in more of attacking role and has scored six goals this season.

Caicedo has also featured during Ecuador’s World Cup qualifying campaign, earning four caps for his country and scoring once.

Man Utd chase Kabak

Meanwhile, Manchester United have joined Liverpool in expressing their interest in highly-rated Schalke centre-back Oxzan Kabak, claims a report.

The Daily Mail say that United have added the Turkey defender to their target list as they look to strengthen their rearguard.

Kabak has been reported as a target for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool for some time.

Bundesliga journalist Chris Williams claims Liverpool contacted Schalke about Kabak in September. And Italian source Sport Media Set also report that Liverpool are keen on the centre-back.

AC Milan are also keen on the player, but Kabak is now being considered by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United are looking for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire, with doubts over Victor Lindelof.
