2.52PM: ROY KEANE DISMISSES TITLE TALK

Where would we be without a daily dose of Roy Keane pessimism!

The former United midfielder, fresh from tearing a limb off Harry Maguire and David De Gea in the recent 1-1 draw at Spurs, has again spoken out.

This time, the Irishman has dismissed United’s chances of a title tilt next season, saying they are “still missing something”.

He does at least point out a few beacons of promise United have shown under Solskjaer. Just as well we all love him really!

1.22pm: DONNY VAN DE BEEK HOPE

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag revealed there is an agreement in place with Donny van de Beek to leave the club this summer.

Manchester United old boy Edwin van der Saar, who is now CEO of the Dutch giants, has confirmed the Red Devils’ interest in Van de Beek.

Speaking to Dutch outlet NOS, Van der Sar said: “It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek.”

Earlier this month United were believed to be at the head of the queue for the 23-year-old after Real Madrid pulled out of the running to sign the €50m man.

Van de Beek was all set to depart after reportedly agreeing personal terms, but reliable Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has since claimed Real have “backtracked” on a deal.

United remain interested in Van de Beek, according to the Manchester Evening News and ten Hag says there is an agreement that the player can leave….

 

12.43pm: MAN UTD TARGET WING DUO AMID JADON SANCHO FEARS

With Dortmund standing by their €120m valuation of Jadon Sancho, it’s claimed United are ready to cast their net elsewhere.

According to reports in Spain, Solskjaer and Co are now exploring the possibility of deals to sign either Ferran Torres or Jeremie Boga.

Both players can operate that same right-wing position that Sancho prefers – and both would come considerably cheaper.

11.20am: GOMES LIKELY TO LEAVE UNITED

Turning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s press conference now, and the United boss expects Angel Gomes to leave when his contract expires on Tuesday.

Solskjaer confirmed earlier this month that the club had offered the 19-year-old a new deal.

However, the manager’s latest comments provide a further sketchy update on the midfielder’s future.

Onto some match reaction now, and it involves United loanee Dean Henderson and his performance for Sheffield United against Arsenal on Sunday.

Arsenal snatched a late winner courtesy of Dani Ceballos and Ferdinand has said he would be “very upset” at Henderson if he was a Blades defender.

Gary Neville says United need a top centre-back partner for Harry Maguire if they are to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City next season.

Maguire has been one of the standout signings made by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far and the Englishman scored a late winner on Saturday to send his side to the FA CUP semi-final.

And while Bruno Fernandes has also impressed since arriving at Old Trafford, Neville says Solskjaer’s work is far from over.

Reports over the past few months have maintained that Jadon Sancho is United’s top target for the upcoming transfer window.

However, the Borussia Dortmund winger will likely cost over £100million and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he is unsure about his side’s transfer budget.

Such comments have been echoed by United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward in the past.

As such, the Sunday Express claims the Red Devils will sell five first-team players to fund a move, starting with Jesse Lingard.
