Man Utd plot unveiled to offload Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez TEAMtalk

Manchester United are prepared to pay half of Alexis Sanchez’s wages to get rid of him next season, claims a report.

The Daily Mail claim that United are willing to subsidise half of the player’s £500,000-a-week wages – a sum which will total around £13million.

The former Arsenal forward will be shipped out of Old Trafford to help fund an overhaul of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, just 18 months after he arrived from Arsenal in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way.

The report claims United believe the best  chance they have of moving Sanchez, 30, on is a loan deal elsewhere. They will then hope he can recapture his form before trying to offload him permanently in 2020-21.

United would prefer to send Sanchez to a club outside of the Premier League. They are still wary of strengthening a rival, despite Sanchez scoring just three goals Premier League goals since he arrived.

He has made just eight Premier League starts this term, scoring once and still has three years to run on his contract at United.

Last month The Sun stated that United had ‘set up emergency pay-off funds’ to offload under-performing stars this summer and Sanchez and Marcos Rojo were among those players set to be axed.

The Times also recently claimed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward conceded that he made an ‘enormous error’ in signing Sanchez – and blundered enormously by handing him a four-and-a-half year deal.
