Man Utd prepare final Sancho offer as Solskjaer retains hope of signing

Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are ready to make one final offer for Jadon Sancho before the transfer deadline, according to reports.

Sancho has been United’s top target throughout the transfer window, but they have struggled to agree a price with Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga club wanted to resolve Sancho’s future before their pre-season training camp began on 10th August. With their season now underway, that has long since passed.

Therefore, they remain adamant that the England winger will be staying in Germany this season. However, United have not given up hope of signing him yet.

According to Dagbladet, the Red Devils will make one last offer this week. The Premier League club feel they still have a chance of signing him, even without meeting Dortmund’s £108m valuation.

They will have to come close to that price range to tempt Dortmund, though. Indeed, recent reports claimed United would offer £75m plus £15m in add-ons.

What complicates things for United is that Sancho is refusing to push for the move himself. While he wants to join them, he does not want to tarnish his relationship with Dortmund, so will not hand in a transfer request.

The report says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains confident things will go “smoothly”, though, with talks between the two clubs having continued despite Dortmund’s deadline passing.

Man Utd to move on to alternatives if new bid fails

If Dortmund still refuse to buckle, though, United will have to turn their attention to alternative targets. Sancho may be the priority, but if they fall short of the asking price, they still need another winger from elsewhere.

As we originally revealed with an exclusive, United are keen on Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, who had been a target for rivals Liverpool before they signed Diogo Jota instead.

They have also been linked with the likes of Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman, while David Brooks could be an alternative if they wish to focus on the British market instead.

Before launching their final offer for Sancho, United will need to raise funds by selling some of their unwanted fringe players.

The Metro list Chris Smalling, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero as those that are on the transfer list.
