Man Utd prepare new deal to double wages of midfield ace

Manchester United are preparing to double Jesse Lingard’s wages after his World Cup heroics for England, according to reports.

Lingard scored 13 goals and contributed seven assists in all competitions last term as he had a brilliant season for the Red Devils.

It was the attacking midfielder’s highest goal tally since breaking into the senior side and was a key player under Jose Mourinho as United finished second in the Premier League behind neighbours City.

The England international signed a new four-year deal in April last year worth £75,000-a-week and he has now been offered another contract.

The Sun reports claims that Lingard will be offered a new contract that will see him double his wages to £150,000-a-week after his standout performances at the World Cup – including a wonderful strike against Panama.

It continues by claiming Lingard’s ‘huge global worth’ can’t be ignored and that Mourinho and the Red Devils will now look to provide him with fresh terms.

A United source told The Sun: “Jesse has shown that he is a top class performer on and off the pitch.

“He has a fabulous season for the club last year and has taken that form onto the international stage so far.

“His England showings has been brilliant and the club know he is all set to become a global star if he continues.”
