Manchester United have been priced out of a move for Ivan Perisic, with the MEN claiming Inter Milan were asking £70million for the Croatia winger.

Perisic has been on the radar of United manager Jose Mourinho for some time, with the Portuguese quoted during his World Cup punditry questioning why the winger didn’t join him at Old Trafford last summer.

Manchester Evening News reporter James Robson has shed some light on the transfer situation at United, who have struggled to make the signings Mourinho has targeted throughout the summer.

“I think we’d all agree a CB who can play in a 3 is needed,” he tweeted.

“Rightly or wrongly #MUFC think Alderweireld/Maguire are too much.

“Likewise, £70m-ish for Perisic seems steep too.”

Perisic and Croatia team-mate Ante Rebic have both been targets of United’s this summer, but the hierarchy at Old Trafford are unwilling to pay the extortionate fees set by the selling clubs.
