Man Utd re-open Perisic talks; close to meeting Inter asking price

Manchester United deal-maker Ed Woodward is reportedly trying to give Jose Mourinho his ideal summer by finally landing Ivan Perisic.

Woodward is said to have re-opened discussions with the Croatia star’s agent Fali Ramadani in a bid to finally get the deal over the line, according to a report in the Sunday Mirror.

United have already had two bids rejected for the 28-year-old, with new Inter boss Luciano Spalletti insisting that the player is staying at the San Siro.

But Woodward is now said to have offered a figure close to Inter’s £48million asking price for the attacker.

Barcelona, however, have thrown a potential spanner in the works after they were linked with Perisic, if they fail to land Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

Mourinho is hoping to bring in one or two more players before the window shuts, having admitted on Friday that he had landed 75 per cent of his transfer targets, namely Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Vidic and Victor Lindelof.

It would appear that Perisic is the final piece of his transfer jigsaw, although news that Antoine Griezmann could still be open to an Old Trafford transfer has certainly spiced things up as we head towards August 31.
