Man Utd change of heart sees interest rekindled in £55m LaLiga attacker

Manchester United are reportedly ready to rekindle their interest in Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele in the January transfer window.

The France winger was tipped to join United as an alternative to Jadon Sancho over the summer, but a £55million deal failed to materialise.

Dembele decided at the time that he wanted to remain in Spain and fight for his place under new boss Ronald Koeman.

Barca officials wanted to sell, however, as they looked to raise funds to bring in Lyon’s Memphis Depay.

But with Dembele refusing to move on, Koeman has already used the winger more times than he featured last season.

The 23-year-old has played 12 times in LaLiga and the Champions League this term, and Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) claims that Barca are now ready to offer him a new deal.

However, the report adds that United have now ‘positioned themselves’ to sign Dembele on loan or permanently.

It is claimed that representatives of the player have made contact with the Premier League side.

Dembele’s contract expires in 2022 and with the forward in no apparent rush to pen a new deal, Barcelona know they may to have to accept any decent bids for the Frenchman in the new year.

The Spanish newspaper does add that Dembele is regarded as a ‘valuable’ asset to Barca. It fails to mention an asking price, although a fee in the region of £55m should tempt Barcelona into selling.

Caicedo deal almost done and dusted

The deal for Manchester United to sign Moises Caicedo in January is “all agreed”. However, there is a reason the contract has not yet been signed, according to one journalist.

Moises Caicedo TEAMtalk

Caicedo recently emerged as a winter target for United as they look to sign the best young talent from across the globe.

They look to have seized their opportunity with Caicedo, a 19-year-old midfielder who is already a full Ecuador international.

According to Marco Lopez Castillo, via Sport Witness, all parties have come to an agreement over the transfer. All that remains is for legal issues to be resolved.

Caicedo will only be able to come to the Premier League once he has acquired a work permit.

However, there are no problems with personal terms over a transfer to United. Indeed, the Red Devils are said to have met Independiente Del Valle’s asking price.

The Ecuadorian club will reportedly gain an initial fee of around £4.5m from United for the teenager. Read more…
