Man Utd renew interest in respected, former Liverpool chief scout

Manchester United are understood to be mulling over making a move to sign Leicester City’s head of player recruitment Eduardo Macia, according to a report.

AC Milan and Aston Villa are also interested in the 44-year-old, who was Liverpool’s chief scout in 2006, while West Ham were credited with an interest in the summer before Manuel Pellegrini brought in his man Mario Husillos in as the club’s sporting director.

The Daily Mail report that United are big admirers of Macia, who has worked at Fiorentina before arriving at Leicester from Real Betis in 2016.

Macia joined Leicester in September 2016 as the club’s head of senior player recruitment and his work has not got unnoticed, although Leicester are well aware that he is attracting interest and are desperate to keep him.

United are pondering adding a technical director to work in between Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward, while Milan are believed to be ready to reshuffle their backroom team to get the Spaniard on board.

Man Utd were linked with Macia in May 2016 before he made the move to Leicester, and they could be ready to get their man at the second time of asking.

In his time at Anfield he is believed to have been instrumental in the signings of Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt to name a few.

After losing Steve Walsh to Everton in 2016, Leicester though are eager to make sure Macia does not go the same way.
