Man Utd should ask Bury for some players; masterful Liverpool hailed

Man Utd’s squad has been deemed not good enough after the shock loss to Palace, while Liverpool are back to their very best – all in Your Says of the Day.

MAN UTD SQUAD JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Happy we are still crap and woefully short in competing for the top 10! Response or no response.

I’m hoping Bury will send us some players!

united_we_win

What Ole has done so far is built a team to counter attack. There is no creativity which is needed particularly for home games when teams defend deep like yesterday so why not play Mata at home and Lingard away for his pace and work rate? I appreciate neither are good enough but its horses for courses! Fred also needs be brought in and given a run of games and I would play any of the other CB’s rather than Lindelof except fo Rojo, even Jones!

yorkshireman200

Ole seemed surprised Palace defended with 9 men behind the ball and it seems counter-attacking is his only plan and it didn’t take other managers long to spot and nullify that. Even more alarming is our continuous failure to deal with set-backs but it’s hardly a surprise given our lack of leadership and backbone.

As great as James’ goal was – and I’m happy for the lad – why on earth was he celebrating? I don’t want to be too hard on him but in the past, any United player equalizing with a few minutes to go would have raced to pick the ball out of net to get things started again. Is this the new standard for United? That a draw at home against Crystal Palace would ever be considered acceptable?

roygbiv

As others said, we were underwhelming yesterday, but we deserved better. 71% possession, 22 shots, Palace with 5 shots. And somehow they won. Actually we know how they won, because VAR is a joke and the stupid referees can’t make simple calls. Clear as day penalty on Martial not given. Yellow card for Cahill which should’ve been a red for taking down the last man through on goal. James given a yellow card when he was kicked in the knee. Palace players constantly fouling and time wasting. The great VAR mysteries continue.

Need to have patience with this Utd side. Slowly building the team despite the loss.

the Martial Art

Jesse Lingard TEAMtalk

I’m sure everyone has seen the lovely statistic tonight that Bruno Fernandes has registers more assists (3) in 1 game than Jesse Lingard has in his last 37 games.

But someone at the club decided that Fernandes gives the ball away too much…

happyhurling

Happy, Ole might be TRYING to implement some vague philosophy that looks good on paper but he has neither the tools nor the know-how to do so. How he’s failed to identify the absolute lack of quality in our midfield is mind boggling and points to him being a pure yes-man for Woodward and the Glazers. It pains me because Ole, the player, is a true legend but unfortunately, he looks completely out of his depth at this stage of his managerial career. I want him to be successful but, sadly, I see no signs of that happening.

roygbiv

Roygbiv – Well there are definitely signs mate. His winning run at the beginning is proof of that. The performance against Chelsea was further proof. You might well be right, he may not have the credentials (think this has been mentioned before!) to succeed – but he’s certainly got the support of the fans whilst he tries.
Fine margins and poor officiating cost us the win we deserved and a bit more luck at Wolves and we’d be rightfully sitting here with 9 points from the first 3 games.

Big period coming up for Ole now, if he can navigate this young team through it then he may well be in it for the long haul.
Time to really get behind him and the team and see where he can take us this season.

happyhurling

Sorry, Happy, but I don’t see the signs yet. Let’s hope that’ll change 🙂

LIVERPOOL BACK TO THEIR VERY BEST

Mo Salah; Virgil van Dijk TEAMtalk

Liverpool today with a masterful performance that perfectly illustrated the team ethos and how every single player contributed with synchronicity to the victory.

I personally will not accept any criticism of any of our players today, they all gave 100%. Although it was disappointing not to keep a clean sheet yet again, this is something to improve on in the next game.

On to the next game and the relentless pursuit of 3 points

Songman

Relatively easy win.
3 goals
Unfortunately we conceded again.
Full points
Top of the table.
Arsenal sat back and tried to hit on the counter a lot using their front 2 but most teams won’t need have that quality up front.

We move on to Burnley now
Pick up another 3 points.

gingerlfc

At last we were near the standard of last season& had a comfortable win.
Agree with others Henderson was a bit off the pace & had one of his worst games.
TAA in the first half was poor with his crossing.
Shaq should have come on rather than Lallana.
I ‘ve been a fan of LFC for 67 years & of all the great central defenders we have had, VVD may be the best of all.

liverlad

Thwe win was not easy. Aresenal played well had had his chmaces and the difference was the effectiveness. We took them and the did not. Of course Aubameyand chance was Adrian gift which fortunately we did not pay. Pepe eas very good had the chasnces but Salah terrorised Luiz who commited the penalty.
We had more chances but no classic like other tinmes.
We can be happy but not satidfied because we need inprovemnet…
If Klopp continues using the same players and leaves Shaqiri out then we will pay because we can not rely on the same 13-14 players…
We have no depth and there are injuries whixh make our life difficult…

pinezes69

Not an easy win he says. Apparently we have to completely shut out the opposition team, giving them no chance to score whatsoever to please pinezes. FFS we were playing Arsenal who has a world class front three, not Man It’s, that was as easy as a win you can get against a top 6 team.

GellerBing

If we keep playing at that level, we’ll be champions. Brilliant performance.

Often last season, we’d lack ideas vs deep defenses and people would ask, do we miss Coutinho? Arsenal played as deep as you’ll see anyone play this season, and we absolutely peppered them. Cross after cross, chance after chance, and should have had a couple more.
Big improvement from last season.

Perhaps we could do better with keeping possession, sometimes, when we need to. But if we keep winning it back so aggressively we can get away with it.
A joy to watch.

Some people praising Pepe? I thought he looked like a schoolboy at times, vs VVD. Had a golden chance gifted to him by Henderson and Robbo, and fluffed it. His passing was ok, but his overall game was under par. He’s nowhere near the standard of Mane, Salah, Firmino. Nevermind worth 70m (the price of Mane, Salah and Shaqiri combined?!). Wouldn’t have been much improvement from Origi, Ox and Shaq.

Salah MOTM, he’s playing even better than he did in his debut season.

EMERY TACTICS QUESTIONABLE AT ANFIELD

It was always going to difficult and we all know our defence is dodgy. But one thing that pissed me off if we cant defend why is that our tactic to sit deep. We give away the game by doing that and its not the first time and this is down to Emery.

Also to say even though jokingly that he dont want to play Pool away thats just stupid. If you want the right mentality from players you say the opposite regardless of what you believe.

Then again i did not expect anything from this game so it is what it is.

muffler_1

Muffler – We tried to defend deep because Emery wanted to demonstrate to us what happens when he uses defensive tactics for his team and that’s the reason he’s focused on simply outscoring the opposition ever since he’s been in charge.
Although, yes I do agree normally I don’t want us to defend so deep no matter who it is,when you look at it his tactics to a point did work. You have to remember you’re playing Liverpool,we actually gave them about 14 attempts at goal we had 9 attempts which is not bad at all against them.

Apart from the obvious flaws in our defense,I think the midfield is more key as i said before the season started.we sill have a week midfield.Players like Guendozi and willock only show “moments” of potential but when you were to analyse their game thery’re so sloppy in posession and aren’t the most effective going forward as well.
I don’t trust them, they might become really good players in the future but to rely on them espescially in big games is crazy. And you can look at the evidence on the big games they’ve played. If we had Ramsey and cazorla in their place the scene would be completely different.Add a van dijk type defender to that and a natural right back and I really beleive we could’ve gotten a result yesterday!

Go back to the game against Man city when we won 2-0 against city.It was not the best defense but we had a very good midfield who did their job to perfection and that’s why we won there.

the specialone

Sorry but giving the Wings away too two players who had 23 assist between them last season is not the best tactic. Again sitting deep works if you can keep the ball once you get it. Nothing we have done in years too be honest especially not a team that do high pressing.

I agree that our midfield consists mainly of players learning their trade still.

I still think though his tactics where mainly to avoid a big defeat rather than go for a point.

muffler_1

Muffler I disagree slightly that giving the wings away was a bad move. It restricted Liverpool massively in the first half. Crosses came in and the additional numbers being narrow meant the ball was getting cleared. Playing with 2 pacey strikers knowing their fullbacks would push on gave us the chance to spring the long channel balls for them and it worked and we should have scored at least twice from that.

AMN was poor, Ceballos was poor, Monreal was poor, Aubs I thought was poor as well.
Gwen was solid, Pepe gave us glimpses of what he can do, should have scored 2 goals he is still settling so will let him off.

Luiz has a very good first half then made a mistake in second, for the pen that ultimately ended any chance of a come back. It meant we had to open up more which just plays into pools hands and so the second half bar last 10 was easy for pool.

Had auba or Pepe put their chances away in first 30 odd mins it would have been a very different game. The signs are there, proof was in first half we need the likes of bellerin and tierney back fit ASAP. I would have liked to of seen laca start with Auba and Pepe beside him, hopefully next week against the twats from down the road.

Not gonna get too down about this result pool have a much better defence than us and took their chances well. We are still missing players and have players still finding their feet with us with a good mix of youngsters learning. On that I thought William had small patches of good play but ultimately got overrun by the experience of pools players.

LAMPARD STARTING TO MAKE HIS MARK

Congratulations for Lampard first EPL victory and may there be many more which I’m sure off

Notnice

The wiser amongst us said the youth is the way forward and there’s still plenty to come from them current and the injured ones, Kante has to come in either in place of Jorginho or Kovacic both cannot be accommodated, at the moment Jorginho is not doing enough, I don’t know why Barkley is getting critisised on here he had a very good game and will feature regularly even when all are fit. The 2 that must start worrying are Zouma and Christiansen, their man marking is poor and that’s how most of the goals have been conceded, it just cannot carry on. They had enough opportunities due to injuries.

Moos

If we want to be sounder defensively in midfield imo we need to play Kante and Kovacic as a double pivot.

Rudiger and Kante back will make us a completely different proposition though defensively.

nine nine nine

Spurs just lost at home against Newcastle. I think apart Man City and Liverpool who are the best teams in the Premier League, the 2 other places for UCL are up for grab. Manchester Utd lost yesterday. Arsenal lost but against Liverpool.

About us, I was disappointed of Norwich’s goals. Looked too easy for Pukki and teammates to pierce our defense. Rudiger sure will help but I would like FL to give opportunities to Tomori. He hasn’t got much opportunities until now. Azpi was doing really good yesterday, worked hard, offensive and defensive. Emerson did not really do much IMO. I am worried about Kante, injury after injury.

aindro

It’s good for us that Liverpool and City win all their games except of course against us, we need our other top 4 or top 6 opponents to drop points, it’s going to be a tight race for top 4 or top 6 while top 2 are almost already certified.

Blueowner

Blueowner yeah. We know that our direct competitor aren’t Pool or City. They are on a different planet. But Spurs, Utd, Arsenal, Everton, Leicester, Wolves: they are our competitor for top 4 of top 6.

If they lose Eriksen: Spurs are beatable. For me this season we are rebuilding. It’s early but there are some encouraging signs from our team. We finish in the top 4: exceed expectation. In the top 6: meet expectation. Anywhere else is below expectation but still ok as long as we don’t get relegated
