Man Utd sole suitor for unsettled La Liga star but set maximum size of bid

Manchester United remain interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, but there are conflicting updates about his situation.
Saul has been with Atletico for the bulk of his professional career and outlined his commitment to the club by signing a contract until 2026 four years ago.
However, the Spain international is still attracting glances from other clubs. Man Utd are one of the main contenders to prise him away from the Spanish capital.
United are long-term admirers of the 26-year-old. Reports from several months back have already indicated how they could finance a deal.
It seems their interest has not faded, as there are several updates about Saul’s future.
According to El Larguero, Saul is one of the players now considering his future at Atletico following their Champions League exit. He may need convincing about their ambition.
That could open the door for a move to Man Utd. The same report claims the Red Devils are so far the only suitors for his signature.
Aware that he is willing to leave, Atletico have already scoured the market for a replacement. They may target Napoli’s Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

Paul Pogba return a big boost for Manchester United
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to his side's 1-0 win over AC Milan (2-1 on agg) to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
However, United would need to present an acceptable offer for Saul first. And another report has suggested that they would not be willing to meet Atletico’s asking price.
According to La Razon, United have set a limit of €50m for any bids for Saul. They would preferably enter with an offer in the region of €35m.
Saul’s contract has a €150m release clause, but Atletico are aware that they will not be able to receive that sum in full. Whether they would drop their demands as far as United’s potential offer remains to be seen.
However, they are considering cutting their ties with Saul. Therefore, an opportunity could remain for United.

Oblak also wants out
Another player to be linked with a move from Atletico to United in recent days is Jan Oblak.
Like Saul, the goalkeeper is said to have not taken their elimination from the Champions League well. Considered to be one of the best in the world in his position, he could now seek a new challenge.
Amid doubts over the futures of David De Gea and Dean Henderson, Oblak could be an option for United. A report from Todofichajes even claimed they could offer De Gea back to Atletico in a part-exchange deal.
Chelsea are also keen on Oblak, though, and the Slovenian would not come cheap. His asking price would be in the region of €80m.
