Man Utd star demanding new two-year Old Trafford deal

Ashley Young is reportedly eager to earn a new two-year contract at Manchester United after an impressive start to the new season.

The 33-year-old’s current contract runs out in 2019 but the report in the Daily Mirror claims that Young will ask for two more years, taking him through to his 35th birthday.

The England full-back moved to United from Aston Villa in 2011 and won the 2012-13 Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson playing as a winger.

He has since been converted to a left-back and excelled in keeping Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard quiet in recent United clashes.

Young had his previous deal extended by a year back in March but, given his advancing years, it would seem more likely that United will offer another year rather than the two he wants.

Luke Shaw’s recent contract extension may also play a part in United’s decision over Young, with the Red Devils still being linked with alternative left-back options to supplement the position.
