Manchester United and Bayern Munich look set to be disappointed in their pursuit of Stuttgart star Ozan Kabak, if reports are to be believed.
The German press recently claimed that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was looking to finally set to end his long hunt for a new central defender by sealing a deal for Ozan Kabak.
The Turkey international is free to leave Stuttgart for a modest £13.4m (€15m) this summer due to a clause in his contract that kicked in after their relegation from the Bundesliga.
However, various reports now claim that Kabak has decided to move to Gelsenkirchen and join Schalke this summer.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed reports from Germany which state Kabak has chosen to remain in the Bundesliga and opt for a better chance of playing time and subsequent improved development.
Nothing has been signed yet, but all the indications now suggest that United are set to miss out on yet another defensive target.
The defender reportedly held talks with as many as six clubs, including Bayern Munich who saw him as a potential replacement for Mats Hummels.
AC Milan and West Ham were also mentioned as suitors, but it seems the 19-year-old is bound to work with former Huddersfield boss David Wagner at Schalke.
