Manchester United have made an opening bid for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to reports in France.
Dembele has enjoyed a fine first season in France, netting 15 Ligue 1 goals with his side guaranteed to finish in third place, behind PSG and Lille.
As a result, the former Celtic man has been linked with a move to Manchester, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a new striker after Romelu Lukaku’s disappointing end to the season. And with reports emerging that Lukaku may be heading to Inter Milan, United’s need for a replacement is only increasing.
According to both Euro United and the French edition of Goal, the Red Devils have now tabled an opening offer of €45m for the 22-year-old. That would represent a double-your-money deal for the French club, who signed Dembele from Celtic for €22m just one year ago.
Dembele signed a contract at Lyon until 2023, but recently hinted that he was unaware of what his future held.
“I signed for five years with Lyon and I’m happy there but we’ll see what happens,” he said.
“I’m happy to stay with Lyon next season but we’ll see.”
