Man Utd ‘in talks’ with Bayern Munich over winger viewed as Sancho alternative

Manchester United are in talks with Bayern Munich regarding a move for winger Kingsley Coman, who they could pursue instead of Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford recently with his future uncertain. The youngster is also reportedly top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wishlist.

The Englishman was non-committal when asked about his future recently, further fueling speculation regarding where he will be playing next term.

And earlier this week it was reported that United are confident of completing a deal for the Borussia Dortmund star.

But the Red Devils may have had a change of plans according to a report on the Athletic (via the Daily Express). They say that United are in discussion with Dortmund’s rivals, Bayern Munich, over a deal for French winger Coman.

The 24-year-old played 24 times and scored four goals as Bayern won the Bundesliga again this season. But he admitted earlier this year that he could be tempted to leave the Allianz Arena in the future.

A transfer could happen earlier than he expected though, with Coman said to be keen on a move to Manchester. It is understood that the chance to link up with international teammates Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial appeals to him.

The Athletic also claim that United scouts have watched Coman ‘extensively’ with a view to making an offer. Despite their interest in Sancho, they did not want to limit themselves to only one target and have looked at other options.

They would be interested in taking Coman on loan or on a permanent deal, but no potential fee is stated.

However, Sancho remains their number one target, suggesting that negotiations with Bayern aren’t at an advanced stage.

UNITED TOLD TO DUMP DE GEA

Manchester United have been told to move David de Gea on and give Dean Henderson a chance.

The Spanish ‘keeper has struggled this campaign, making a number of costly errors.

Henderson, meanwhile, has been in fine form for Sheffield United in their first year back in the Premier League.

And retired former ‘keeper Mark Schwarzer says now is the time for Solskjaer to make a change in between the sticks.
