Man Utd striker target reveals real exit fee after joking over £91m clause

Andre Silva TEAMtalk

Manchester United attacking target Andre Silva has revealed how much the Red Devils will have to pay for his signature this summer.

The 25-year-old has exploded onto the scene in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt after two seasons as a loan player.

He joined AC Milan in the summer of 2017, but could only manage two goals in 24 Serie A games in his first season.

As such, he joined Sevilla on loan in August 2018, netting nine times in 27 LaLiga outings. He could still not find a place back in Italy and moved to Frankfurt temporarily last season, scoring 12 times in 25 league appearances.

The current campaign has seen Silva produce arguably the best football of his caraeer.

The 37-times capped Portugal star has notched 20 goals and added five assists in just 23 league outings.

Sky Germany recently claimed that United were intensively scouting Silva, and now the player himself has reponded to the rumours.

He told O Jogo: “I’ve heard rumours, but that is it. Rumours are rumours.

“At the end of this season, it’s something that gives me more motivation to work. It’s a sign that what I have accomplished has borne fruit and the path has been good.”

Portugal star an affordable option

Silva was also asked to set his own price-tag, with the forward initially saying: “Around €105 million (£91m)?

“I’m kidding. I think I heard €30m (£26m) and something somewhere. When we sell our merchandise, we always increase the value a little bit.

Carra & Hughes: Man Utd need a striker

Carra & Hughes: Man Utd need a striker

Jamie Carragher and Mark Hughes agree that Manchester United need a top quality centre-forward to take them to the next level.

“Things are as they are and, whatever happens around us, the most important thing is to look at me and what I can do.”

It’s common knowledge that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is after a new central striker and a right winger this summer.

The fact that Silva could be available for a quarter of what Dortmund are asking for Erling Haaland is certainly tempting for the Red Devils boss.

Signing Silva would also allow Solskjaer to strengthen defensively, where he still wants a centre-back partner for Harry Maguire.

The latest name to be linked with United, in that regard, is Nicolas Nkoulou. The experienced Torino star is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
