Man Utd will turn their attentions to capturing a £75m Premier League playmaker after the latest reports revealed a stunning proclamation.
Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has long been believed to be Man Utd’s number one transfer target this summer.
The 20-year-old has excelled once again this season, racking up an incredible 20 goals and 20 assists along the way.
But with a price tag hovering around the £100m mark, a straightforward transfer was never likely.
Dortmund chiefs are stated to be ‘confident’ of holding onto their prized asset for at least one more season yet.
The club’s head of football, Sebastian Kehl, said: “At the moment we continue to assume that he will play and stay at Borussia Dortmund next season.
“Regarding the rumours, I can say that there is nothing to it.”
The possibility of having to wait a year for Sancho will not deter Man Utd from acting this summer, however.
The Star make clear that Utd supremo Ed Woodward ‘will now look to negotiate a deal with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish.’
The 24-year-old has shone this season in what has otherwise been a difficult campaign for the Villans.
His performances put him on the verge of a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England set-up prior to football’s hiatus.
Grealish – who recently detailed his admiration for Utd legend Cristiano Ronaldo – has been on Utd’s radar since the club altered their transfer policy to target young and predominantly British stars.
And The Star add major fuel to the fire by revealing that Grealish has ‘decided to leave Villa at the end of this season, irrespective of if they manage to avoid relegation or not.’
The acquisition of Grealish could spell the end for Juan Mata at Utd, and a weekly salary of £150,000-a-week has been touted.
