Manchester United target Youri Tielemans has revealed that he expects to return to Monaco when his loan at Leicester City ends.
Tielemans has impressed in the Premier League since moving to the King Power Stadium in January, contributing three goals and four assists in 12 games. As a result, Brendan Rodgers wants to make the transfer permanent, although several of England’s bigger sides are also interested.
Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have all been linked with the 22-year-old midfielder, who has been capped 21 times by Belgium. However, Tielemans looks set to disappoint them all by returning to Monaco.
“I expect that I will return to Monaco in the summer, unless something’s moving,” he told VTM Nieuws.
“At the moment there’s nothing. If things are going well you want to keep it like that. I don’t know what Monaco will be asking, so I can’t talk about it.”
Tielemans had been tipped as a potential replacement for the departing Ander Herrera at Old Trafford, with club legend Gary Neville singing his praises – but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have to look elsewhere.
Parent club Monaco are still very much in danger of relegation from France’s top flight, with Leonardo Jardim’s side only out of the drop zone on goal difference, with two games left to play.
It is believed they would want a fee of around £40m for Tielemans, who they signed from Anderlecht in 2017.
