Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have held talks over a swap deal involving Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann this summer – with both players giving the deal the thumbs up.

Griezmann has been linked with Barcelona for an eternity, but after deciding to stay at Atletico last summer, it seemed as if the La Liga champions would have to move on to other targets.

However, the rumours linking the French forward with a move to the Camp Nou are resurfacing ahead of the summer transfer window, and Barca think they have found the opening they need to finally land the 28-year-old.

According to Don Balon, the Blaugrana are prepared to offer out-of-form midfielder Coutinho to Atletico in a swap deal for Griezmann.

Former Liverpool star Coutinho has largely disappointed this season, and has been linked with a move back to the Premier League with Manchester United. However, the Brazilian would be content to stay in La Liga instead, and just needs Atletico to give the green light to the deal.

His Atletico counterpart Griezmann is also happy for the deal to go through, as he is growing concerned about the departures of several long-serving stars, including Diego Godin – set to snub Manchester United to join Inter as a free agent – Filipe Luis and Juanfran.
