Eljif Elmas TEAMtalk

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Fenerbahce wonderkid Eljif Elmas as they look to build a younger squad, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Soksjaer is ready to revamp his squad after they finished a disappointing sixth in the league this season. As part of his vision, he wants to add younger, hungrier players to the squad, and according to the Daily Mail, 19-year-old Elmas is one of his targets.

Elmas has made 28 league appearances for Fenerbahce this season, including 16 starts, standing out as one of the bright sparks in a team that, like United, have performed below expectations and fallen into midtable.

The teenager, who has already gained 10 caps for Macedonia, has scored three goals this season, and big European clubs are now taking notice of the midfielder. In fact, Fenerbahce’s former president recently revealed that they had received bids from as many as 26 clubs for the ex-Rabotnicki youngster.

Manchester United are not the only interested side from England, with Manchester City, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur also taking note of Elmas’ potential.

Although Elmas has three years left on his contract, Fenerbahce are in financial difficulty, meaning they could be forced to sell the youngster while his value is still high. A bid of £17.2m should be enough.
