Offers flood in as Man Utd, Tottenham chase Serie A star

Andrea Belotti, Nikola Milenkovic

Manchester United and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in Nikola Milenkovic, according to a report.

Milenkovic has established himself as a key player for Fiorentina, where he has made 100 appearances in Serie A since joining in 2017.

The 23-year-old seems ready for a step up to a bigger club, and reports recently suggested Tottenham could make a move for him in January.

According to La Nazione (via Inside Futbol), though, they are not the only suitors for the defender. Man Utd also remain in the hunt.

Milenkovic was regularly mentioned as a target for the Red Devils in summer 2019. Those links have faded somewhat since, but the Italian newspaper claims that option is still very much alive.

Furthermore, his agents have already received some offers. Milenkovic has just 18 months left on his contract, so could be available for a modest price.

Fiorentina are hopeful of renewing his contract, but if they cannot find an agreement, they may have to sell him.

Milenkovic pointed towards Premier League?

In that case, the Premier League could be a possible destination for the Serbian. Both United and Tottenham could offer him a more lucrative long-term pathway.

Man Utd have conceded the most goals out of the Premier League’s top 10 so far this season. They will need to rectify that to stay in the top four, and might need to bring someone in to help.

Tottenham also could require reinforcements at the back after Jose Mourinho lost trust in some of his current options.

For example, Davinson Sanchez has fallen out of favour under Mourinho. Reports have linked him with a January exit, so Milenkovic could be a replacement.

The same source has previously indicated that Fiorentina could sell for around €25m. That’s half of the value that was being touted one year ago, so would be a shrewd move.
