Man Utd, Tottenham step up interest in impressive Celtic star

Manchester United and Tottenham have reportedly stepped up their interest in a Celtic star as they both eye new left-backs.

With uncertainty over the futures of United star Luke Shaw and Spurs ace Danny Rose, both clubs are expected to be in the market for a left-back in 2018 although Rose has been continually linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

That has not stopped the rumour mill suggesting that Kieran Tierney could be bound for the Premier League, however, with the 20-year-old proving to be a consistent performer for the Scottish Premiership champions since breaking into the side last season.

The Scotland international has been at Celtic since the age of seven and made his senior debut for the club aged just 17 in 2015.

Tierney has since gone from strength to strength and his ability to also switch flanks and play on the right makes him an attractive proposition to England’s top flight clubs.

The defender is said to favour a move to United but would arguably have more chance of breaking into Tottenham’s first team, given boss Maurico Pochettino’s stance on giving young players a chance to shine.

United’s need for a left-back is almost certainly greater, although they could, ironically, land Rose from Spurs and then see Tierney make the move to north London.
