Man Utd transfer involving ‘one of the country’s finest’ confirmed; follow-up deal leaked

Crystal Palace have confirmed the capture of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson in a permanent deal, and who his replacement will be at Old Trafford has been leaked.
Henderson, 26, had long been expected to leave Old Trafford once again this summer. The goalkeeper spent last season loaned to Nottingham Forest where he impressed. The Forest spell was Henderson’s sixth loan during his time at Old Trafford.
However, with the signing of Andre Onana scuppering his chances of becoming No 1 at United, a permanent exit looked on the cards.
Forest showed interest, but it was Crystal Palace who emerged as frontrunners once Steve Cooper’s side moved for ex-Arsenal stopper Matt Turner first.
Now, Henderson’s permanent switch to Selhurst Park has been confirmed via Palace’s official website.
Henderson has signed a five-year contract running until 2028. According to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer fee is £15m plus a further £5m in future add-ons.
Responding to the move, Henderson said: “I’m absolutely delighted and buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started.
“This club has got great fans and has a lot of top players who are hungry to succeed. There’s something being built here, and I really want to be a part of it.”
Henderson reportedly harbours ambitions of breaking into England’s squad ahead of Euro 2024 next summer. Regular football at the highest level is required to achieve that aim and Henderson now has the chance to impress at Crystal Palace.
The Eagles certainly sounded impressed with their coup if their website’s write-up is anything to go by.
Indeed, Palace’s confirmation piece described Henderson as ‘widely regarded as one of the country’s finest goalkeepers, renowned for his sharp reflexes, impressive shot-stopping and accurate distribution.’
Henderson’s replacement leaked
On the subject of who’ll take Henderson’s spot as back-up to Onana at Man Utd, former Red Devils midfielder Fred has already given the game away.
Fred – who was sold to Fenerbahce earlier this month – publicly stated brief Fenerbahce teammate Altay Bayindir is the man to fill the void.
“I wished Altay good luck when he left,” said Fred earlier this week. “He’s going to a great team.
“I gave him some suggestions about places where he could live and I told him it rains a lot!
“I think Altay is going to be very happy at Manchester United.”
Bayindir is expected to cost United a fee in the £6m range. Romano recently confirmed Bayindir has been in England for several days in anticipation of completing his move. The Athletic reported Henderson’s completed deal is the final act that’ll now unlock Bayindir’s move to Man Utd.
