Only ‘indecent offer’ will dislodge left-back that Guardiola is ‘crazy’ about

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is mulling over a transfer move for a left-back he is “crazy” about, according to a report in Italy.

The Spanish boss is believed to be looking at cover at left-back after Benjamin Mendy was suspended by the club.

Mendy, 27, will stand trial in January after being charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault last month.

And the defender, who has been remanded in custody, has seen all products related to him removed from City’s official website and online store.

It has meant that right-back Joao Cancelo has started the last three games at left-back with Oleksandr Zinchenko on the bench.

Cancelo actually started the season at right-back against Spurs, but has been switched after Mendy’s suspension.

The Sun have reported that AC Milan defender Theo Hernadez is on City’s radar.

The player himself though has batted off the talk, telling Telefoot via MilanLive: “I am very happy at Milan. From day one it was an incredible emotion to wear this shirt and every day I am proud of it.

“Scudetto? We have a strong, well-prepared team, we will work our hardest to reach this goal.”

Guardiola though is a big fan of the 23-year-old France international.

‘Indecent offer’

Calciomercato, via Sport Witness claim Guardiola is “crazy” about the defender and has “followed” Hernandez for at least two years.

The outlet fall short of suggesting City are readying a bid for the player, but claim Hernandez has a “simple technical approval”.

Milan have no plans to sell the player, who is contracted to them until 2024. And they are planning to triple his current €1.5m salary to keep him.

January will be an interesting time for the player. Milan will only likely buckle if City put a “truly indecent offer” on the table.

Something in excess of €65-€70m may well be enough to tempt the Rossoneri.
