Manchester United have the upper hand in the race to sign Ousmane Dembele, according to a report tin Spain.
Dembele has been linked with United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain after failing to make a significant impact at Barcelona.
The France forward signed for Barca for an initial £97million from Borussia Dortmund last summer but he has been plagued by injuries in his debut season in La Liga.
A thigh problem saw him miss more than three months of the season from September and he has since picked up another injury which has seen him miss over a month and as such he has scored just twice all season.
Barcelona are hoping to add Antoine Griezmann to their ranks this summer and Dembele could be offloaded with Don Balon claiming the Barcelona forward has long dreamed of playing for Manchester United and would accept a move to the Premier League to join Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG have all made enquiries about the 20-year-old, claims the same source, but United are his preferred destination of choice.
Mourinho recently claimed his forward line was not an area he was looking to strengthen in the summer after the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez. However, Anthony Martial has yet to extend his contract and the France winger has been linked with Juventus among other clubs.
In fact the Sunday Times yesterday reported that Mourinho has cleared the way for Martial to leave this summer, and if that is the case then Dembele would be a more than competent replacement on the left wing.
Just how much Barcelona will take for Dembele, who is under contract until 2022, is unsure, but they may well be prepared to take less than they paid for him last summer, despite his €400million buyout clause.
