Manchester United are close to winning the race for Dutch wonderkid Tahith Chong ahead of several other Premier League rivals.

Feyenoord’s striker Tahith Chong, 16, could be on his way to Old Trafford and Manchester United. He impressed United’s scouts when he played for Feyenoord’s Under 17 side at the Premier Cup held at United’s Carrington training complex last summer.

Other Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly keen on the Dutch striker, who also operation in the midfield, but Dutch journalist Mikos Gouka, who works for the AD newspaper, claims that United are close to securing a deal with Chong.

But in January this year he was not keen on leaving current club Feyenoord, he told  Fr12.nl: “Feyenoord is and remains my first choice and we are still negotiating.

“It’s true that Manchester United are interested in me, but I want to just stay at Feyenoord. There is absolutely no question that I’m going out to the club.

“Feyenoord now will come up with a plan of how they see me in the coming years at the club. I am hopeful that it will be all right and that I’m going to sign a contract with Feyenoord.”

Tahith Chong was born in Willemstad, and joined Feyenoord’s youth system in 2009 when he was only 10 years old. He has worked his way through the ranks at the Dutch top club and is also a Dutch Under 17 international.
