Juve legend makes endearing promise to Pogba with Man Utd exit probe

Paul Pogba TEAMtalk

Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio has reached out to Paul Pogba, insisting that the Manchester United midfielder will be “happy again” with a return to his former club.

The 27-year-old has suffered injury, poor form and a lack of minutes at United over the past 18 months.

Indeed, he summed up his struggles recently by comparing international duty with France to a “breath of fresh air”.

Pogba added that he is going through the most “difficult period” of his career, amid continued doubts about his future.

The midfielder has two years left on his contract, agreeing to a 12-month extension in October. But, according to Marchisio, Pogba should consider an immediate return to Turin.

Replying to a Twitter post from Pogba, the former midfielder said: “Please Paul Pogba – Come to Juventus….you will be happy again. Me too.”

Pogba moved to Juventus from United back in 2012 and became one of Serie A’s best players. Indeed, his explosive form prompted the Red Devils to buy him back for £89million in 2016.

However, he has failed to recreate that dominance in midfield, with the past season one of his toughest. The Frenchman suffered two separate foot injuries last term, severely restricting his game time.

This campaign, meanwhile, he faces a further battle for game time amid United’s plethora of midfield options.

Bruno Fernandes has made himself one of the first name on the team sheet, with new signing Donny van de Beek also fighting for more action.

But, aside from that pair, Fred and Scott McTominay look the Red Devils’ favoured pairing behind Fernandes.

Martial injury doubts

Meanwhile, United forward Anthony Martial has trained alone amid new injury doubts, according to a report.

RMC Sport claims that Pogba’s fellow countryman has “back problems” and worked away from his teammates ahead of France’s clash with Sweden.

Indeed, it remains unclear as to the extent of the 24-year-old’s problem.
