Mason Greenwood in talks over lucrative new Man Utd deal

Mason Greenwood is set to sign a new £25,000-a-week deal at Manchester United, according to a report.

The teenager, from Bradford, is understood to be in talks with Old Trafford officials over a new deal after breaking into the first-team squad.

The Athletic report the 17-year-old is discussing an improved deal which would see Greenwood add to his basic salary, as well as “significant” appearance fee bonuses.

The young striker, who has been called up for England’s U21s, has been a sub in all four of United’s Premier League games so far, playing 47 minutes in total.

The Sun claimed in July that Greenwood was in line for a pay rise.

The tabloid claimed that Greenwood currently earns just £800-a-week, though he is on a first team appearance bonus of around £5,000 per game.

He only signed his first professional contract last October, but has continued his development with United where he has been since he was just six years old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a big fan of Greenwood and recently claimed the forward is a more natural finisher than Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Asked whether Rashford or Martial is the most natural finisher, he said with a smile: “Well, they’ve still got a way to go because Mason’s more of a natural finisher than them two.”
