Mauricio Pochettino told two big reasons why he is doomed to fail at Chelsea, as Tottenham branded ‘idiotic’ for failing to re-sign coach

A pundit has explained why Mauricio Pochettino will not be the roaring success at Chelsea Blues fans are hoping he will be, while Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been labelled an ‘idiot’ for not taking the Argentine back to north London.
After having been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in July last year, Pochettino is on the verge of returning to management with Chelsea. Football Insider report that he has reached an agreement to become Frank Lampard’s permanent replacement at Stamford Bridge, while Sky Sports have revealed his arrival could be announced ‘in the next week’.
Pochettino will have plenty of work to do if his Chelsea move goes ahead. They have a massively bloated squad filled with players who feel they should be featuring every week but are just sat on the bench.
There is also little cohesion in the squad, as chairman Todd Boehly has signed players based on their potential rather than what system or formation they might fit into best.
Plus, Chelsea are lacking a truly deadly centre-forward. The Telegraph claim Pochettino will offer Romelu Lukaku a Chelsea ‘lifeline’ next season, although the Belgian may want to head back to Italy on a permanent basis.
Despite all these problems, there is reason for Chelsea to be optimistic once Pochettino arrives. At Tottenham he showed he is excellent at developing unproven players into top stars and even managed to get the team into a Champions League final.
The 51-year-old will also be able to focus solely on getting Chelsea back into the Premier League’s top four. That is because Chelsea have failed to qualify for any European competition this season.
Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara does not think Pochettino will be able to get Chelsea back to where they belong, however.
Pundit reveals serious Pochettino concerns
He believes Pochettino is far more suited to Spurs, which is why things went well for him at Chelsea’s London rivals. O’Hara also reckons Chelsea fans will turn on Pochettino quickly due to his strong affiliation with Spurs.
“Don’t even get me started,” O’Hara said on talkSPORT when co-host Jason Cundy brought up Pochettino going to Chelsea.
“You’ve got Pochettino coming in. That’s not going to work.”
The pundit continued: “It’s not going to work. It won’t work. He was made for Tottenham.”
When asked about Spurs failing to re-capture Pochettino – Julian Nagelsmann is the current favourite to take over – O’Hara replied: “There’s unfinished business. The only reason he’s not going back there is because Daniel Levy is an idiot and he doesn’t want to go back on old ground because they fell out when he left.
“It’s Levy’s fault. [Pochettino’s going to fail at Chelsea] because he’s Spurs. He is Spurs. It’s not going to work.
“The fans are not going to be going for it. As soon as they have a few bad results, [the] fans are going to turn on him instantly. It ain’t going to work, I’m telling you.”
O’Hara is clearly very unhappy about his beloved Spurs missing out on Pochettino and letting him go to a close rival. It is now up to the coach to prove his doubters wrong and make Chelsea one of the most feared teams in England once again.
That will be far from easy, but Pochettino does have rich owners who can back him all the way.
