Reported Manchester United boss target Massimiliano Allegri flat-batted the speculation when asked on Tuesday.
Depending on which sources you believes United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford is either safe or in jeopardy, but what is fact is that the Norwegian’s start to the season has been poor.
United have won just twice in eight games and Sunday’s home clash with runaway leaders Liverpool looms large.
Solskjaer’s slow start has led to speculation linking former Juventus boss Allegri with the role and Tuttosport have reported that the Italian is “very close” to getting the job at United.
The Italian outlet claim that “concrete negotiations” have been held, while The Athletic report that United’s boardroom is ready to back Solskjaer in the January transfer window.
Allegri though, who guided Juventus to their fifth successive league title last season and is currently without a job, was asked about the talk in England.
Allegri was at AEFCA’s [Alliance of European Football Coaches Association] 2019 Symposium in Warsaw and was asked by Polish newspaper Przegląd Sportowy via Sport Witness about United.
“I speak English too poorly for now, but I am learning,” joked Allegri as he refused to be drawn on the talk.
