Kylian Mbappe has highlighted what traits Chelsea are about to receive once their impending capture of PSG veteran Thiago Silva goes through.

The Blues have made an enormous impact in the 2020 summer transfer window.

Exciting forwards Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner arrived at Stamford Bridge. While the £50m capture of Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell was wrapped up earlier today.

The England international may not be Chelsea’s only new defensive acquisition for very long, however.

PSG centre-half Thiago Silva is set to be a free agent, and Lampard’s side are on the verge of pouncing.

Recent reports suggested a Chelsea medical would occur within the next two days ahead of signing a two-year deal.

Silva has been one of the most capable and consistent defenders in world football over the last decade.

However, superstar forward Mbappe believes Silva will bring so much more to Chelsea than just his footballing performances.

Speaking on Instagram while wishing his teammate a goodbye, Mbappe hinted at the leadership qualities Silva will bring to a young and improving Chelsea backline.

Translated from French (via FootballLondon), Mbappe said: “Well, it is the end. I am very sad to wish you goodbye and that your adventures end but also very proud to have been able to play with you.

“Thiago, my captain (or just captain but it sounds better as my captain). You are a legend, you made your mark on the history of the club.

“One of the best I have seen and have played with.”

Ben Chilwell hinted at a possible motivating factor behind his decision to join Chelsea after completing his £50m transfer from Leicester City.

The England full-back became The Blues’ number one target in the left-back position.

The Foxes had no desire to sell, but their lack of Champions League football next season reportedly left them feeling a sale would become inevitable.

Chilwell becomes Chelsea’s third major signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

The Blues are expected to challenge for major honours in the upcoming season, something Chilwell hinted was a motivating factor.

Chilwell told The Blues’ website: “I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club.
