Medical awaits Liverpool outcast as strange deal agreed with Besiktas
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius will fly out to Istanbul for a medical ahead of a move to Besiktas, a report claims.
Reports from Turkey have been gathering momentum all week and recently The Times and The Liverpool Echo claimed a deal was close to being done.
Karius was dropped from the bench for the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace after being on the bench against West Ham at the weekend.
Alisson Becker is Klopp’s new number one and he has started both Premier League games for the Reds, but Karius was at Selhurst Park on Monday night – in a spectator capacity.
Klopp, though, was non-committal about the reported loan deal.
“There’s nothing to say,” said Klopp. “Nobody told me anything on a transfer.”
Now however, the Mirror’s David Maddock has claimed that a deal for Karius to join Besiktas is all but completed.
The formula of the agreement is slightly complicated: a two-year loan deal which will become permanent for £9.5m if he plays 50% of their games and the Turkish side qualifies for Europe (presumably in both seasons).
Karius will fly to Istanbul tomorrow for medical, with intention of completing loan deal by weekend. Besiktas will pay £9.5m for permanent deal after two years if he plays more than 50 per cent of games AND club qualify for Europe #LFC
