Middlesbrough are hoping to beat a number of Championship rivals to the signing of Dutch winger Sheraldo Becker.

The 24-year-old is out-of-contract at ADO Den Haag this summer and he is set to leave on a free transfer.

Boro have already held talks with him and hope to land him, although Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby and Swansea have also made enquires.

Sources confirmed to TEAMtalk that Boro, despite not having a new manager in place, have offered terms to Becker.

The winger, who came through the youth ranks at Ajax, has been with Den Haag since 2016, and contributed seven goals and eight assists in 33 games as Den Haag finished in midtable of the Eredivisie.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Woodgate is expected to be appointed as the replacement for Tony Pulis at Boro, who left his post last week.
