Mino Raiola reveals Juventus screw up over transfer of Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland

Mino Raiola has revealed why his client Erling Haaland rejected a move to Juventus in January.

Controversial agent Raiola was very busy in the last transfer window discussing a move for the prolific Norway striker and the 19-year-old eventually signed for Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga side acquired Haaland’s services for £17million after he blasted 28 goals for the Austrian outfit, but he was a man in demand with Manchester United and Juve chasing him.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even flew out to Norway to try and convince Haaland to sign for United, while Juventus also made an offer for the player, and Raiola has revealed why their offer was rejected.

“Why Haaland didn’t move to Juventus? They would have put him in the Under-23 squad,” Raiola told Italian outlet La Repubblica.

Haaland has gone on to score 13 goals in 12 appearances for Dortmund, and Juventus will surely be kicking themselves after making such a faux pas.

Haaland’s attacking exploits have understandably continued to draw the attentions of Europe’s heavy hitters, with Man Utd expected to go back in for the man they almost signed in January once again.

But it is Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who Steve Nicol believes has the upper hand due to them being a more attractive proposition given their recent successes.

“In five years time we don’t know who is going to be top of the tree,” Nicol told ESPN FC (via the Daily Express).

“Whoever it is, that’s the move for him because what he has shown us up until now is he looks like the real deal.

“He is like the heir to the throne of the best forward in the world and that means you play for the best team.

“Hopefully it is Liverpool in four or five years, I don’t know if they can sustain what they are doing now. He will go to the very top team.”
