Leeds United are extremely close to signing the Man City winger Ian Poveda, who is also wanted by Torino and Celtic – according to reports.

The England Under-20 international has been on the radar at Elland Road since winger Jack Clarke and striker Eddie Nketiah returned to parent clubs of Spurs and Arsenal.

The Whites have been lacking in-front of goal of late, with their advantage at the top of the table possibly getting reduced to just a solitary point on Wednesday evening.

According to the Daily Mail, United have now unseated Italian side Torino in the race to sign the Englishman – with the two club’s in negotiations of the possible signing.

Poveda is out of contract at City at the end of the season, meaning the Premier League champions could be looking to offload  him in January to make a profit on the youngster’s potential.

North of the border, Celtic are also said to have contacted Man City over a potential move – but it looks like talks have broken down.

Marcelo Bielsa may be taking a risk on signing a player with just a single Manchester City appearance to his name. However, the winger does have a decorated youth career under his belt – playing at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy.

Poveda was born in London to Colombian parents and his performances in Premier League 2, have seen him called up to the England under-20 squad.

By contrast, speculation in the Italian press claim that it is Torino who are in the driving seat to sign the City starlet.

According Toro.it [via Sport Witness], the Serie A side are in a political ‘chess game’ with the Whites over Poveda.

Their version of events claim Torino are very much in the race to sign the player though the Italians are debating a move for the winger now or waiting until the summer where he will be a free agent.

If true, this may give Leeds some incentive to part way with some January cash to secure the prospect.

Either way, Bielsa will be desperate to add to his offensive arsenal – with the Whites only scoring once in their last four matches in all competitions.

Leeds have also been linked with moves for Che Adams and Andre Gray this window, with Bielsa openly admitting he needs reinforcements out wide and up top.

Next up for Leeds is a home tie against Millwall next Tuesday evening.
