Monaco ask Serie A giants for Arsenal, Man Utd target

Monaco have joined the race for Arsenal summer target Daniele Rugani, according to reports.

Juventus are ready to offload Rugani this year after new arrivals Matthijs De Ligt and Merih Demiral pushed him further down the pecking order, but both Arsenal and Manchester United missed their chances to sign the Italian before the English transfer window closed.

The 25-year-old has since been linked with Roma, as an alternative target to Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, but Goal claim that Ligue 1 side Monaco are now interested in the player.

According to the report, Monaco have enquired about Rugani’s availability without lodging an official offer – but it is assumed they would have been given a positive response, given that Rugani is essentially fifth choice at Juventus.

Monaco are looking to rebuild after narrowly avoiding a shock relegation last season, a campaign in which they hired and sacked Arsenal legend Thierry Henry before replacing him with his predecessor, Leonardo Jardim.
