Monaco express interest in Liverpool midfielder
Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri could leave the club just one year after joining, with reports suggesting Monaco are ready to make an offer.
Shaqiri was in and out of the side in his first season on Merseyside after signing from Stoke last summer, and was only involved as a late substitute in their Community Shield penalties defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
The Swiss international has repeated his will to stay at Liverpool, despite his struggles for consistent gametime, revealing in June: “I’m at Liverpool FC, the best club in Europe.
“The manager has many good options and has to decide who can play. I knew before my transfer that the competition here is very tough.
“I have a long-term contract and I definitely will stay.”
Nonetheless, Blick claim that Ligue 1 side Monaco are pushing to sign the 27-year-old.
Shaqiri’s price tag is said to be a stumbling block, but the report claims that Monaco could explore the possiblity of a loan deal.
