Monaco star favours Man Utd switch despite Arsenal chase

Manchester United have reportedly been given a huge boost in their hopes of signing Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

Reports coming out of France are claiming that the winger has stated that he would rather join United than their Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger stated on Thursday that he believed any move for Lemar was unlikely, as Monaco are unwilling to sell the £45m-rated attacker.

He said: “It’s dead because Monaco don’t want to sell.

“Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho… they have lost already Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko.

“So Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door.”

However, it would now appear that there is fresh hope for both clubs, although United clearly hold the upper hand – as respected journalist Duncan Castles tweeted.
