Mark Cooper: Sent Lawrence Vigouroux back to Liverpool

On-loan Swindon keeper Lawrence Vigouroux has been sent back to Liverpool after paying a club fine in pennies.

The 21-year-old had been fined £150 for turning up late to training before some of the senior players at the County Ground had the penalty reduced to £50.

Vigouroux then tried to settle the debt with bags of pennies, according to the Daily Mail, which prompted Swindon boss Mark Cooper to cancel his season-long loan arrangement.

The Camden-born goalkeeper eventually paid the full original £150 debt with more conventional currency but was dropped to the bench for Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Colchester.

Swindon boss Cooper admitted Vigouroux had been left out because of an “internal disciplinary matter”, but wouldn’t go into any detail on the matter.

He said: “It’s a disciplinary internal matter. I’m not sure if he is (available on Tuesday).

“It’s come from me and the rest of the players. It won’t (cause an issue now) it’s been dealt with.”
