Alvaro Morata’s father and agent have been for talks with Real Madrid officials at the Bernabéu as they try to secure a summer switch to Manchester United.

Alfonso Morata and Juanma López were reportedly in a meeting that lasted almost an hour, although AS claims that Old Trafford club have yet to meet Real’s asking price of £70m for the Spain forward.

The Manchester Evening News, meanwhile, claims that the 24-year-old will complete his big-money move this week.

They stated: ‘Manchester United are hopeful of completing the signing of Alvaro Morata before they fly to the United States for their pre-season tour.’

Reports had claimed earlier on Monday that United boss Jose Mourinho was ‘frustrated’ and ‘concerned’ with the club’s lack of transfer activity during this window so far.

United have only managed to sign centre-half Victor Lindelof from Benfica, with other targets Nemanja Matic, Ivan Perisic and Morata all yet to seal their deals.
