More transfer woe for Arsenal as details of £25m Tierney snub emerge

Celtic have rejected Arsenal’s improved £25million bid for defender Kieran Tierney, according to widespread reports.

The BBC and Goal claim that the offer has been knocked by Celtic, despite it reportedly matching their valuation of the player.

The Gunners though have structured the deal in such a way with instalments and add-ons that Celtic have turned it down.

Celtic want more of the £25million up front, rather than a series of clauses and the BBC report that “talks are expected to continue between Celtic and Arsenal this week.”

Scotland international Tierney has emerged as Unai Emery’s primary target at left-back and after a dreadful summer in the transfer market, with only youngster Gabriel Martinelli signed, they are desperate to get Tierney over the line.

According to BBC Scotland reporter Chris McLaughlin, Arsenal offered the £25million asking price on Friday.

The Sun also reported similar news, while Sky Sports claimed “Arsenal have made an improved offer in the region of £25million” for the player they have been tracking for some time.

Sky also claimed that Arsenal’s first bid of £15million was rejected three weeks ago, while Serie A side Napoli were now also interested in Tierney, who is a boyhood Celtic fan.
