Motherwell v Partick preview

Baraclough will give fringe players the chance to stake their claim for the play-off matches against Rangers or Hibernian while resting others.

He said: “Now we know where we are and we will utilise the squad a bit against Partick.

“There will be some players in there who haven’t been regulars but hopefully they relish the chance.

“I want the players who come in to really show an enthusiasm and spirit that says ‘If I do well, I am in with a chance here’.”

Striker Scott McDonald is available after winning the appeal against his red card against St Mirren.

But Louis Laing (groin), Iain Vigurs (back) and Craig Reid (knee) remain unavailable for selection.

Thistle boss Alan Archibald is keen to finish the season on a high following their 4-1 home defeat by Kilmarnock last weekend.

He said: “We will need to make some changes, we have a few players injured and Abdul Osman is on five bookings so we won’t risk him, but we want to finish on a high. It was disappointing in our last home game, we let our fans down.”

Archibald will be without winger Steven Lawless after he was given a two-match ban by the SFA for breaching betting rules.

Midfielder Abdul Osman will not be risked as he is one booking away from a suspension, while Ryan Stevenson, Dan Seaborne and Sean Welsh remain on the injured list.
