Mourinho given Real Madrid transfer chance amid doubts over Spurs duo

Eder Militao

Tottenham are reportedly exploring the possibility of a January deal to bring an unwanted Real Madrid defender to the Premier League.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring in another top-class centre-half to bolster his options amid doubts over two of his current crop.

Davinson Sanchez has appeared just five times in the Premier League this season, having fallen down the pecking order. Reports last month claimed Spurs would consider selling the Colombian if a sizeable offer came along.

Indeed, reports in Italy have suggested there is one potential move which ‘fascinates’ the former Ajax man.

Spurs also have doubts over the long-term future of Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian has re-established himself as important player under Mourinho once again this season.

However, De Telegraaf claims PSV Eindhoven have been in touch with Alderweireld’s agent to discuss a potential return to Dutch football.

At this stage it is unclear what terms Tottenham might be looking for to let Alderweireld leave. However, it does seem unlikely given his return to form this term.

The centre-back is due to turn 32 years old in March this year and has made over 200 appearances for Spurs.

Nonetheless, it’s reported Mourinho remains very much in the hunt to bring in another top-class centre-half.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, the man at the top of his wanted list is Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.

The Brazilian moved to the Bernabeu for a €50m fee in summer 2019. However, he has failed to establish himself under Zinedine Zidane and has just 17 LaLiga appearances to his name. Indeed, the former Porto man has featured just three times in all competitions this season.

Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos and Nacho all sit ahead of Eder in the Real pecking order. As such, the Spanish paper claims Real are ready to liften to offers for the 22-year-old.

While no valuation is placed on Eder, it’s thought an offer of around £25m could persuade Real to sell. Mundo Deportivo claims Eder has never found his place with Los Blancos. Indeed, Real would not stand in his way were a sizeable bid come in.

They have confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the player and suggest a January deal could be on.

Tottenham keen on rising Serie A star

Tottenham are monitoring Sampdoria starlet Mikkel Damsgaard with a view to a summer bid, according to reports.

Damsgaard has burst onto the scene in Serie A this season after joining Sampdoria from Nordsjaelland in Denmark over the summer.

A winger, he has started eight games and made a further seven appearances as a substitute. So far, he has scored two goals and provided three assists.

Hence, the fee of just over €6m that Sampdoria paid to sign him is already looking like a shrewd investment. They may be able to sell him for a decent profit further down the line.

In fact, there are already potential suitors queuing up for his signature. According to Corriere Dello Sport, Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen are showing signs of interest.

However, the Italian outlet claims Spurs may have an ace up their sleeves and could yet win the race.
